Sky Gazing

Sky Gazing

A Poem by Riley

Up high
a helicopter is away
nobody can find her
she's been missing
for over a day

Running until she finds the tree
she climbs
until she reaches the canopy
looking over the city

Her family, very worried
they've been searching
all day and night

Night turns cold
she can hear them
drawing more

and more near
they shine a light,
but nothing goes through.

The leaves are too dense;
so she will just stay,
you see,
inside the sycamore tree.

She waits for the sun to rise

there's no light

no voices

nothing in sight;

no choices.

Bones turn to bark.

She is staying
with me,

inside
the sycamore tree.
