My Mind's Eye

My Mind's Eye

A Poem by Meredithe

You see me and as you see me, you smile.

You wait until you have my attention,

And when you do, you make it all worthwhile.

“I love you.” You casually mention.

I cling to you, and mentally giggle.

No idea how happy you made me,

Out of my grip you manage to wriggle.

Somehow I was unable to foresee,

That you in front of me, was a dream.

You would never say that to me, I know.

I am only a friend to you it would seem.

The pain in my heart just seems to overflow,

And I can’t help but indulge myself in

The image of you I conjured within…

very good. the sonnet rhyme scheme is perfect. it flows very well. it is sad and the longing in this poem comes out greatly. out of the works of yours that I've read this is by far the best one. i also commend you on attempting the sonnet. it's hard to do but you pulled it off fantastically.
