Seasonal Celebrations

Winter Hymns

a chill in the air

snowflakes on a winter’s night-

logs in the fireplace

don’t hog the blanket-

frozen lakes and icicles

footprints in the snow

snowballs take on shapes

carrots buttons and a pipe-

fancies of a child

a christmas turkey

wrapping paper on the floor-

a letter from home

sweaters coats and boots

scarves mittens and a shovel-

not in florida

falling through the ice

life flashes before your eyes-

waiting for the thaw

thinking about starting over-

arctic sunsets ice castles

Spring Hymns

daffodils in bloom

a caterpillars’ retreat-

metamorphosis

a jog in the park

smiles barking dogs and frisbees-

rejuvenation

sunsets and moonlight

the songs of a humpback whale-

illumination

a cup of coffee

and a croissant on the beach-

procrastination

an awakening

excited seedlings emerge-

acceleration

on the river styx

death whistles a happy tune-

the dead remember

hope springs eternal but once-

misery is forever

Summer Hymns

splashes and ripples

evening sunsets on the beach-

boisterous dolphins

sweat heat and hot feet

sunburn fevers and blisters-

sunny florida

pelicans in flight

seagulls prancing in the sand-

coffee on the porch

tropical breezes-

a bicycle built for two

for lovers only

a mid- morning swim-

don’t feed the alligators

it gives them cravings

she fainted away

had a bad case of heatstroke-

the hospitals are full

those mosquitoes are biting-

this day can’t get any worse

Autumn Hymns

best friends forever-

we lay on beds of fresh leaves

everything changes

a cup of coffee

and a slice of pumpkin pie-

too early for snow

a thanksgiving feast

turkey mince pie fat bellies-

twenty nine days till christmas

a waning sunset-

horny crickets sing their songs

lust reaps its rewards

a chill in the air

it’s time for my hat and coat-

I turn up the heat

A willowy wisp

of wind sends the leaves adrift-

the old oak shivers

and readies itself for sleep-

storm clouds on the horizon

Nicely done. An enjoyable read. I can just tell you it is good stuff. You have two quotes that I think were meant to be dashes. It is after the word 'retreats and further down after the word beach in the spring hymns. I'm not trying to be picky. I'm guessing you don't' want that there and if I'm wrong I apologize.. I get those when I transfer writing onto this site instead of the dashes I want.
