Descent

Descent

A Chapter by Robert Francis Callaci
"

Into The Pit

"

HELL

Sinners

Punishment

On the crooked path

Uncontrolled desire

What you sow is what you reap

“A Lunatics Paradise

In Hell below

Where chaos rules

Do the wicked go

Fire and ice

Wind, hail and rain

Will be the bane of your suffering

No comfort will it give

All who enter here

Are forever damned

No forgiveness will you ever receive

Hellfire will ravage you IN day

While hellfrost will bite you in nite

Over and over forever and ever and ever

Fear, despair and hopelessness

Will be your constant companions

Oh what evil men and women do

Now all that evil we will do to you

Author's Note

Robert Francis Callaci

I've been greatly influenced by Dante and Milton. This collection is my version of "Dante's Inferno" with a pagan flavor. I wrote these a few years back doing each in a specific poetic style. Not all worked as I would have liked but each and every one taught me how to better my craft. I've since integrated these into my Novel "The Tangled Tapestry_.These are to be in Part 2 of my mythological work -I've created a detailed hell run by my favorites - Sateen and the gang. But that's another story... As always all of these are subject to rewrite and in a few years these will probably be unrecognizable as is. I hope you find these of interest- I call these my circle poems.

There are a few variations of forms in this one- I started off the beginning with a clarity pyramid and the rest I followed my own form. A little melodramatic but that's what makes it fun.

I must admit, the first thing that caught my attention was the "Flame Spirit" Magic Card picture. But OH, I liked what I read!
"Hellfire will ravage you IN day
While hellfrost will bite you in nite"
Really creative combination of the two greatest discomforts into a fallible use, which I think is a wayyy more interesting approach to damnation.
I love how it completely avoids the flowery poetic complexity and details that so often accompany a piece like this, but hits you strong with powerful point-blanc lines that truly ring in the "no nonsense, this is hell" attitude. I thought I spotted some dante in there, but you make it your own! The first thing I thought as I read this was, add some electric guitar and drums and you have a heavy metal song!
And that's just my impression from the first page!
Cheers! XD

That is fun and expressive reading, and really presents an image of delving insight, dark and warning, the perfect opening to such a provocative topic, I'm looking forward to reading this book, the imagery takes the reader away, and plays on emotional metaphors powerfully and artfully.

Bob's Inferno. I like it. This worked. it was very unsettling as I read. And felt like sinking.
Good job!
