Shadowless Night

Shadowless Night

A Poem by Jesse W.
"

A parable of service

"
They march through the filth and the mud
Through fire that fails to illuminate the dark
As death creeps forth to make his craven mark
They march ever on steady as the flood

They breathe hot air and cold desert sand
Shoulder their spears, armor and rifles
Ready to face the day's heavy trifles
Singing their cadence louder than any band

They occupy forever the earth, land and sea
Provide safety and comfort so we may cope
Surrender their lives to give us all hope
Forgo their families to save people like me

They guard the walls, give us all their might
Marching for hope through the shadowless night

My grandfather served his country, and I would have too were it not for a brain tumor. This poem is dedicated to all those who serve their countries. God bless.

Ah. Quite right.
