A Poem by Wesley L Dingler

What do you see in this thing you touch?

What do you feel for it, that you feel too much?

What is it within the object that calls up your lust?

That for it, you would be willing to break someone’s trust?

For there is only so much joy it can bring

This object is just that; just merely some thing

I do not mean to imply so harshly, of course

But in the end, it is never really mine, or ever really yours

Icons... Idolatry. Things. A nice piece on materialism or covetousness. Either / or is what I took away here. Short but impactful in its message. Thank you for sharing.
