On Charges of ThoughtcrimeA Poem by Wesley L DinglerThoughtcrime does not entail death: thoughtcrime IS death -George Orwell If they have come to arrest me On charges of thoughtcrimes-- If I am in too deep this time For speaking out against mental piracy; Then lock me in fetters And sentence me to hard time But you should know, even imprisoned, I will have mental privacy So if the Justice System aims to undress me, Mugshot me and take my belongings; Then let them take me, number me And find self-satisfaction in labeling me a fool Let them hang me from the highest gallows Or give me a good stoning-- I had sooner face a firing squad Than to be your f*****g tool And if later it makes it onto TV Or you read about it in the papers And if you are thinking: That poor, sweet boy-- How he went and strayed And if they add to the story; That my friends and I dealt in conspiratorial capers Then it will help affirm one thing: I may be imprisoned but you are the one enslaved © 2012 Wesley L Dingler |
