A penny

A penny

A Poem by rayven

I wish I had a penny.
One penny, bright and new.
A reward for everything I took from all of you.

Just one cent for every tear,
Reality of fears,
Depression filled years.

A penny for everytime you looked me in the eye,
And couldn't catch the hint of my pleading lie.
A penny for everytime you looked me in the face,
And I smiled; said "nothing" in "everything's" place.

A penny for each time I wore bracelets,
Long sleeves and a head full of excuses.
To hide all of the evidence and clues.
The imagined running nooses.

A penny for each and I'd be rich,
Rich because of my sorrow.
The sorrow everyone thinks I'm drawing up,
But no matter what they think; it's the same I'll have tomorrow.

The beginning line started with all of you. Then the poem seem to get more personal. The poem hid stories hidden behind words. I like the flow and the repetition. Last line was straight to the point. A excellent poem.
