Ill See You

Ill See You

A Poem by Christopher 'Windstorm' Kells
"

Dedicated to Lim who hung himself in prison, and was a very good friend.

"

Gone!

To meadows of endless summer

Worry and sadness out of your way

Not comprehending why you left the stage

Your soul free as a leaf upon the wind

A demise written in black and white

Flowing in a tormented wind

What could have been so wrong?

Leaves old and dieing whisper your song

Leaving confusion in your wake

You stood against fate and moved on

My friend you will always be

As we part I know you’re gone

May the Gods grant you peace?

R-Dog as you were known best

Earthly troubles buried in the bog

Your adventure begins anew

As a bird released, you flew away

Good-bye for now

In the next life

I’ll see you

This is a beautiful memorial to a tragic end to a life. I feel autumn in the air. It is not stated in fact but it feels like autumn. Perhaps it is just the passing of a life that makes me feel that way.

Maybe the phrase "endless summer" brought me to summers end instead. You speak of tormented winds and dying leaves. Maybe that set the tone for the season. Autumn if my favorite season and sets the stage for peace with me. That is neither here nor there. I just wanted to let you know where the piece was set for me.

I am a nurse i n a maximum security prison. I have been present at the time of such tragedies. You have done a great job to create a feeling of peace and wonderment for this reader. I love the image of a bird flying away from the remains that he has left behind. I will tuck that image away and let it soar in the future should I find myself in a cell with a victim of suicide.

It is my job to shoot the bird and save the man. However, if all attempts fail, I will see a bird soaring and happy to be free.

I also love this line: "You stood against fate and moved on". It leaves the reader with a feeling that he has become the victor and not the victim. It is a strong statement, powerful.

Great write.
