Are We Any Wiser?

Are We Any Wiser?

A Chapter by Wondering Mind

Lost love
leaves you longing;
                  hollow heart,
        lonely lament,
               and sad self-pity.

Are you any wiser?

Habit haunts its hider,
lurking in shameful shadows.
             Lies lay,
  like sleeping serpents,
                                     or dormant demons,
In darkness waiting.

Are they any wiser?

Let the dead rest in Peace
Let the newborn smile in Peace
Let Life live in Peace

Are we any wiser?

Intriguing question that begs perhaps some unpleasant answers ......... do we really ever learn? Perhaps we become more cautious, a bit more cynical, jaded even ~ but I wonder if the needs that compel us ever soften enough to allow wisdom to exert herself . . . for surely the laws of love do not make allowances for calculations found in prudence or deliberance.

Wonderful thought process here, my friend. ;-)

I'm not any wiser

. beautifully written ... my take? ... those are symptoms ... inside ... that disease called love ... it makes the heart larger ... and the mind live longer ... it's a sweet surrender ... that's why we fall in love ... and give it all we've got ... the more you give ... the more you get ... that's as good as it gets ... which ... incidentally ... is not bad at all ...

oh i love this part :)
Habit haunts its hider,
lurking in shameful shadows.
Lies lay like
sleeping serpents
Or dormant demons
In darkness waiting

"habit haunts its hider"
perfect in the description of find oneself repeating history in the hopes of changing an inevitable outcome...
really well done
