perhaps for one who is mischievous there is no regret; that's why they're mischievous. i think that regret can be gotten over whereas remorse cannot.

Regret is a refutation of the manner in which you, most likely, had to learn something. Decidedly unproductive.
As you imply, "mischievous" students are often merely in the process of teaching themselves.
