A Forgotten Riddle

A Forgotten Riddle

A Poem by Eden

A bird laid in my arms

Peaceful and awake

Such a beautiful bird

In this dark, forgotten world

Its green eyes and golden feathers
Sparkled with grace

As it was flying in an empty, sinful place

The humans envied

Such a beautiful bird

So in a deep frenzy

They killed the bird

Now it lays, in my arms

Now it lays, with no beating heart

The humans forgot

Their deadly mistake

Instead of healing

I began to break

There is a riddle

To this dying poem

The riddle is that

The bird was no bird

For the bird was birth

The bird was a child, an angel, withered in my arms

Heaven nor Earth has ever seen

Such a beautiful bird

Until she was gone
