Mother Earth

Mother Earth

A Poem by Sarah Buchanan
"

title explains it all.

"

Mother Earth take me in,
Keep me safe,
As I try to protect you,
Protect you from mankind,
The horrors you have endured,
The trees that have fallen,
The resources that have been stolen,
Yet you keep us here,
Why not teach us a lesson,
Kill us off,
Fix yourself from our damage,
Give those who care,
The power to heal you,
Make the sky clear,
The land healthy,
The water clean,
Heal your wounds,
And broken heart.

I actually love the symmetry if the poem with the question in the center, why not "kill us off"? Everything preceding it is dark, then after that line, it feels like the poem is leading us to the light. Awesome.

We must take care of our Mother Earth. We must stop abusing our land, we must start realizing that when we destroy the earth, we destroy ourselves. I like your line "Kill us off". I look forward to reading more of you poetry.

Very nicely done my friend, perhaps you will become James Lovelock's successor.
