Future?

Future?

A Poem by Eva Clarkston
"

What are you doing today to make tomorrow worth living?

"

ACT prep, GPAs and finals,

What is it really for?

They say it's for the future,

If it is, then the future is a bore.

I want to laugh and play,

To live the day away,

Society tells me to study and learn,

But I want to live with time to burn.

What's the point?

No one's guarunteed a tomorrow,

I'm gonna go smoke a joint,

And live life without a sorrow.

This is my life now,

Or so they say,

But what if I want it to be more?

So I can enjoy everyday.

I want music and art,

To run and have time to burn,

But society says I must play my part,

So a good life I can earn.

Life would be good,

Without a big house and lots of TVs,

I could live in any neighborhood,

If I could be who I want to be.

Life would be fine,

Knowing only what I want to know,

For no one knows how much time,

Or if they're guaranteed a tomorrow.
