Depression

Depression

A Poem by wunderlast
"

A study in depressive mood

"
Sweet succubus
I hear your siren song
Like the laughter of one I loved all my yesterdays

Hold me
Kiss me
Ensnare me

Please

A whisper and a caress and I am yours and truly yours
Nothing can hurt as long as you're with me

Then there was us
With you I shall live forever
Yet my past shall last a day

We move to the rhythm of the waltz of the damned
Every rise and fall bringing me further from the sorrow
Closer to a place so painless and free
Deeper into this sepulchre of yours and for me

Ensnared in your gentle talons I know I must leave
But this b*****d child of passion lost and cowardice envelopes me within
Like laying on the lonely atoll and watching the sun go down
Wave after wave of sweet surrender but the tide is coming in
One more barrage and my strength has forsaken me

Let the tide take me where it wants to
It matters not for everywhere all I see is you
Pray Scylla or Charybdis put an end to this
And as I fade and the world forgets my face
Let me reminisce that I once stood on the cusp of love and glory
Before my sweet succubus lusted for someone like me

This is a great way to open minds about the sways of depression. The extent of ones trappings lie uniquely with that individual and to take the sadness and weight of depression and give it life as a seductress is brilliant. A truly thought provoking and excellent read.

I personally have problems when writing about depression, I don't think I manage to evoke the emotions I need to but this one's well-penned and I really like it. Well done!

I like the metaphor here; I think people rarely think of depression as seductive as well as draining, but it certainly can be.
