Just having fun with The Man In The Moon, and the knowledge that "strange" things happen in the time of a full moon...........ooooh! smiles!

The Full Moon Comes Out To Play

As a crescent moon wanes and fades,
Heaven ushers moonbeam rays midst full accolades.
A whimsical Man in the Moon comes out to play--
Deciding he is "Tom Foolery" for the day.

His presence is always felt and duly noted.
Meaningless thoughts indicate intellect demoted.
"Crazies" awaken from their lazy dreaming time,
And suddenly walk the earth in syncopated rhyme.

Normal changes intention and dons uniform of rage,
Creating fantasy's glib, moronic, denying correct age.
Ranting, raving, lunatic fits, screams into the wind.
Meaningless utterings reveal mockery akin to a whirlwind.

Thank Heavens above that such time quickly ends.
Crazy acts of lunacy revolve as dreamland descends.
Man sleeps now free from moon's gravitational pull,
Cloak of insanity is shed, now waxed without the bull!

Sheila Bowyer Kline
When a full moon sets his table on earth's surface and starts to play.
All resemblance of reality seems to wane, and slip away

Too true. I have worked in hospitals all my life and I do not argue with a full moon. Our Er and maternity units fill up at this time. Drivers drive erratically, odd accidents, family disputes, erratic behaviors, the fun never stops. This piece made me smile; you caught it so whimsically.

Love this notion ... 'crazies ... walk the earth in syncopated rhyme' and also '...as dreamland descends. Man sleeps, thus free from moon's gravitational pull, Cloak of insanity shed...' Ach, those natural forces have a strong hold on some of us and your poem captures this in a playful way.

Awww Sheila,

A delightful write this is....woven with strands of moon beams no doubt. You always find such interesting pictures to either write about and/or to illustrate your poetry. This lovely, whimsical write peaked my interest and held it with the humor and easy flow of your words.

No doubt the moon is full of mystery as it lights up the night and plays tricks with our minds with it's lunar... being a creature of the night I just love the moon and this was a fun creative look at it... you are you fabulous writer.
