Blues Kinda Day

Blues Kinda Day

A Poem by Willard Wells
"

Listen to BB Play, RIP

"

You hear BB King

And you love the blues

You have Buddy Guy

He can make you fly

As Mick and the boys

Scream again once more

When you hear the blues

It's a soulful ride

It's memories

Of pain

Of love

Maybe lost or won

But with the blues

Love, booze and drugs

It may be a blur

Or a faded memory

If you remember at all!

But no matter

The pain or

Loss of love

You'll always have the blues

I agree and we will be fortunate to continue to enjoy it despite his passing. The power of art!

Nothing better than some good old Jazz. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I think I would definitely drop the last line. When I think blues, harps don't enter. I'd also take out the middle two lunes in the stanza before so the poem ends as:

But no matter
You'll always have the blues!

It will keep the end fresh and your idea is still there.

Willard, I suggest you leave out the last verse. You've made your point by that time; it's extraneous.

YQW. I like your poetry.
The Blues is a musical ride from here to there for everyone who hears it. As many separate journeys as there are people who are listening. The Blues are special that way. They can be social or they can be as private as pain will allow. You wrote a fine poem partner and you merely touched the surface of a well so deep, so very profound, an all American style of music that has no equal.

The delivery is as bluesy as the topic. Like the music this poem does a great job relishing in melancholy. Great write, and a fitting tribute.
