Past Memories

Taking an excursion in my mind

can get boring given time.

You see I have been there before,

oh so many times.

Seeing the same old thoughts,

memories I thought I had forgot.

Remembering now that time

back when.

But as I age and view again

the memories of past,

they seem to take on

a different hue.

Then one more time

I view that thought

with a joyous heart,

of that moment in my past.

Author's Note

this was a personal test to see if I could get my brain to use past and not passed. It was a draw as I corrected the one's in error. Thank you for playing todays game. A winner has already be selected and notified.

I think you are onto something there. I know I travel in time often and especially at this time of year. Memories alway mean a great deal, but many years later the moments are more vivid and meaningful.

If you're like me, the years have given you a different vantage point from which to view those old memories. Elements of maturity and if I dare say, wisdom. Too bad we can't acquire those things sooner, like at about age 16.

I agree and memories I guess are like fine wine, it has to age. to gain body, fragrance and style. Early on some memories are rather silly and boring, but given time the true humor of the moment comes through. At 16 I fear the nuance would be lost within the hormones. Peace Out.

About the poem...I admire the speaker for having that open mind and heart. He/She has no negative emotion against whatever that happened in the past. It is true that we learn from our experiences, so we should still thank the past for teaching us lessons in life.

This was a work that came from my memories of the past. Some of the same memories that I had ignored as nothing but random thought, suddenly as I aged, great memories that were not really lost, but not part of maybe a conscious thought came forth.

This time of year takes me on many journeys. Some dark and edgy and some light and fun with maybe a little tear of a past moment in time that will never be, but I have it saved to live again.
