December Rose

Loneliness

Winter arrives

as the green of summer turns,

darkness creeps into our minds.

As we struggle to survive

another dark season.

Cold all around

as nature fights

itself in winter,

a single December rose.

Standing solitary.

Alone on bare branches,

withstanding the cold,

going against mother nature

and her regulation.

It may not be perfect

as roses go,

but standing alone against the cold

as the only rose,

made it the most beautiful.

Well as for the drought. We have brown water with coffee grounds and such, it gets poured on the plants. But there is still a great resilience in this little rose. Thanks for your review.

The defiant rose makes a stand :) You have applauded her beautifully, Willard. Seems the plants here in Ohio are a bit confused. It has been warm as spring and some of the trees started to bud. Strange weather...

Thank you for stopping in and reading my work and commenting. We have years of early buds often, but usually January or February. In reality I have I think, at least one rose on each bush, but some are not survivors like this little beauty.

Thank you so much. When I saw the rose today even with it not being perfect as a rose, it stood alone as the only rose which meant it was the most beautiful rose I saw today. Even with it's flaws.
