August's End

August's End

A Poem by Aries

Last night I was carried through a storm

on a rainy Saskatchewan night

Wheels turning pavement against the darkened west

my weary mind giving up the fight

I fell into a fragile rest

held together by growing exhaustion

 counting seconds by the ache

and longing in my chest

as I slipped away..

Calgary lives on within my dreams

of neon City lights and construction sites

A kaleidoscope's magic

across the canvas of my resting eyes

dawn touching the passing fields outside...

I woke up today in Thunder Bay,

the rain subsiding as my dreams gave way

to another city landscape

and another day

The imagery and emotion are exceptional here.. I feel the frustration, and the longing in this one..... the flow and construction of this one is just as exquisite as the last one of yours i read.. it makes the intensity build to the finish as in the previous one as well.. Your word choice and descriptions are so spot on, concise, and brilliant that I am again left thinking.. wow... I love the subtle rhymes in this one... You are talented! Loved this.. can't wait to read more.

Your diction here is amazing. The way you've used your words to paint this image of gloom, desperation and frustation is haunting.my favourite is the third stanza of your dreamworld,"A kaleidoscope of magic through the canvas of my resting eyes."- depicts your eagerness to escape.. But again you give your dreams away and start again the monotonous day.The pessimistic note at the end leaves the reader with a sour feeling. It touched my heart.Keep writing ;)

That was long for me too, my heart. We'll see each other again soon.
