In Exuberance Of Self-Defeat

In Exuberance Of Self-Defeat

A Poem by Stacy Purvis

I see you as a tiny, flowering plant in a garden.

You’re surrounded by much larger plants but you are still small.

You have access to the enriched soil, to the glorious sun and the thirst quenching

water.

You stretch so hard and reach toward the sky…

But still, you do not grow.

Why?
