And I Weep

And I Weep

A Poem by Stacy Purvis

I sat in solitude, reflecting on dreams of me and you.

Your eyes like glowing pools of passion, haunt my soul in fragrant fashion.

In agony I scream aloud while considering our empty cloud.

The promises I made myself in vain, my heart overwhelmed and slain.

I swore to Hades I’d never let another man execute his evil plan.

But in my flesh I weakened just enough to be sickened.

Now I lay at night without sleep, and in my darkest hour I weep.

I weep for things that could have been, I weep for things yet unseen.

I weep for the loss of your gentle smile, and of the sour feelings yet so vile.

Of all the things I love the most, it’s your beauty I want to toast.

So here’s to you and here’s to love, and tears at night heard from up above.

Just remember when you’re alone, with me you’ll always have a home.

Let me remember you standing strong, and the echoes of a perfect song.
