Steel Walls And Shards Of Glass

Steel Walls And Shards Of Glass

A Poem by Stacy Purvis

Just to remember the look on your face,

A conversation I wish I could erase.

What you've ceased to realize in all the time that’s passed,

We’re both unable to surpass steel walls and broken glass.

No one person is at fault for things,

We both left each other standing in the rain.

If I could go back, rewind the hands of time,

I’d take you in a moments notice and make you mine.

For not one second has passed that I haven’t loved you

Or thought of you in even the smallest of ways.

If given another chance for our love to grow,

I’d risk the cuts and broken bones.

The rhyming and syllable count is actually quite spot-on... The breath and lines are also very well done... As for content, the wordplay and metaphorical brashness is absolutely captivating... I think we have all been there... Between steel and fragility... Beautifully penned...

The above lines dangerous and second chances rarely work. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Fantastic! The rhyming and rhythm is spot on. The heart ache is truly felt in this poem. I have never felt this myself, but I think I felt it here. Love your work keep it up.

There is nothing worse than to live on what 'could have been'. But we all do it. :)

Another page from the book of life's relationship section, I always it find it fascinating to learn of the different ways people deal with challenges of surviving a relationship. Seeing how others do it can educate and inspire the rest of us so thank you and well done my friend. Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!
