I wish upon a star

I wish upon a star

A Poem by

I wish, I wish,
upon a shining star
that for one day
people could change
who they are.

For once in their life
couldn't they just be nice
or is that just too much
to sacrifice?

So very few people
left in this world who care
where has all the love gone
is there anyone still there?

Have we all really
grown that cold? Gone
to the point that our
souls we have sold?

Where is the care?
And where is the love?
Does it truly mean nothing
when push comes to shove?

I wish, I wish,
upon a star that we
could all just be
accepted for who we are.

But the kind of world
I wish to live in I know
it doesn't exist, so why try
to fight the pain, why resist?

The only thing that keeps
me alive is my beautiful son,
because if it weren't for him
my life would have ended,
no more...I'd be done.

So now when I wish upon a star
it's not for my own hope, but for the
life of my child, because I want
him to grow up in this world
and on his face have a smile.
