Spoken Honesty

Spoken Honesty

A Poem by Mel
"

Beguiling, deceitful... we all have to lie at some point in time.

"

I choke on the words,
can't get them out of my mouth.
I've tried to tell you the truth;
but maybe that's a lie.
I know the secret -
haunting, painful, yours to know -
but I can't tell you.
Why can't I tell you?
You should know.
You deserve to know.
This honesty thing is hard to do.
My mouth forms the words
but I hide them from you.
So I give you my best beguiling look,
hoping you'll never think deception.
I want you to know I'm sorry.
I apologise over, I swear.
I wish I could tell you the truth,
I want to tell you the truth.
But this spoken honesty thing was never easy.

wow very nice ... I loved the way you described how the person really wanted to just tell the truth and yet couldn't ... you know ... it's as if something more was holding him back ... you clearly made it seem like being honest isn't always that easy to be ... you know ... :) :) :) ... very very well written :)
