Mask

Mask

A Poem by Mel
"

So many secrets in one's self, ones you don't want to admit to. You have to come clean eventually.

"

Take off this mask of mine;
Try to find who's inside.
Am I pretty? Am I kind?
So hard to tell what lays behind.

What do you know of me -
Of myself?
I know nothing at all.
In these shadows I hide.

Let me try and open up
Before I close off my soul.
I want you to see me,
Want you to see me fall.

First let me tell you:
I don't know how to cry.
Nothing hurts me,
And I couldn’t tell you why.

I wish it were different;
I wish I could sob all night.
But I haven't, I can't,
No matter how much I try.

Next let me tell you,
How much I want to love.
Love passionately, wildly,
No regrets at all.

But still I'm afraid,
Won't let anyone close.
The more you come near,
The more closed off I’ll become.

Now you should know
I’m selfish at best.
But I would give you the world,
If I hold you to my chest.

Listen to me now –
Even now I push you away.
But I want to bring you closer,
Would do anything to make you stay.

Take off this mask of mine;
Try to find who’s inside.
I swear I will let you in
If you can find who lays behind.

Mel
I know the flow is off, but I think this is the best I can do whilst trying to explain myself.

About
I am indescribable, but which of us isn't? I am whimsical at best. My interests vary; a bi-polar spectrum of wants and feelings and needless thoughts; wants for the passions I desire; feelings for th.. more..
