The Soldiers Cry

The Soldiers Cry

By

Jose M. Euvin

Hold your soldiers hand

Hold them close to your heart

Watch them as they march away

As the time come’s for them to part

You cried when he went away

You held the children tight

“Daddies working late”

“He wont be home tonight…”

Many nights you cried alone

You held his pillow tight

Wishing he would walk in through that door

And stop your lonely cry

The children asked for their father

They were too young to call him “Dad”

He never met his youngest daughter

A faint memory’s all he has

With every call you got excited

His one day close to coming home

And then you got the letter

Sorry, your husband….

“Why did they take him away…?”

WOW this hurts to read. It's so utterly sad that so many give up their lives for freedom. It really should be free. I'm holding back the tears on this one, and bowing to those who paved the way for me to be here. Excellent piece, and I bow to you for being one of them. Thanks for the reminder, I hope no one EVER forgets. So glad you made it home alive. Much love~~

Very honest and heartfelt wite. The dread of getting that letter of losing loved ones in the battles of war.Shelly

Unfortunately, this will be the case for far too many. :( Great write. I think you might like my poem "Another Christmas Morn". When you get a chance, check it out. Anyway, this was heart wrenching. Kudos.

I commend you on walking in the boots of a soldier. America would not be what it is today without those boots. New or Old... My father is a Korean war Veteran and A Vietnam Vet. Great Poem...

I watch my neighbor go thru this when she get's deployed. My Uncles and cousins I watched withthis too. Such a wonderful sacrifice you soldiers give, but sometimes I wonder if the children don't give just as much. Thanks so much.
Blessings to you and your son.

it is such a great sacrifice and you painfully bring us into that place. The place that has us question the point of war. I thank you for your service to our country, and admire you for your responsibility as a father. We must fully understand the pain war can cause, to understand if a cause is really worth fighting for, your poem helps that.
