Oh Well

(With the usual apologies to e. e. cummings)

Oh well-
winter         when the country is lights
cozy the little
fat Santa Claus
rings his bell            far        and clang
and        christmasandhanukkah    come
running from department stores and
charlie brown and his
commercialism

when the world is                          bleach white
the ruddy
fat Santa rings
loud    and    clang
and           kwanzaaandwintersolstice come dancing
            from spite and hope and
it’s
      winter
               and
                     the

beggar
                                     rings his bell

santa
loud
and
clang

I consider this more of an exercise in imitation than a true poem, and it is a bit gimmick-y on purpose. Still, reviews are welcome.

e.e. cummings is my FAVE!!!!!!!!! you totally do him justice. make his style your own, I say. we need more of his spirit floating about. this was an excellent poem.. I think this was good.

also, I think you can stay true to his style without exactly copying him.

I have done a couple horrible poems like him... they're on my site in my poetry book.. agggh.. I love him but cannot write like him.

it works.
awesome little gimmick-y poem.
I am a firm believer that to master our craft, we sometimes have to learn what came before.
