Superman / Apocalypse ( Part Four ) - 1 of 2

A Chapter by lawrence bear

               - A teacher stands in front of the chalkboard, and while writing out some work; she turns with a bright smile on her face speaking to her class about the assignment on the board, she is beautiful, vibrant and in her late twenties. Turning back toward the board, she continues with her lecture when tremor vibrations disrupt her. She turns to face her class and is unsure of what she felt.  She glances at the glass of water on her desk and it ripples as she heard the impact tremors. -

“You hear that Miss Hartley?” one boy is alarmed.

“Hear it, can’t you feel it?” another replies.

- Again the impact tremor is heard. The class sat silent for a moment listening to the unnerving sound and pulsations. Tornado warning sirens go off and Miss Hartley although afraid, she instructs her class to get under their desks or precaution and without hesitation the students scurry under them whimpering and crying not knowing what is happening.

The school Principle announces over the PA system, “Attention! All students and staff, evacuate the building to the tornado shelter in the auditorium. I repeat all students and staff. Evacuate the premises to the auditorium immediately, this is not a drill.”

Quickly in a single file all students exit their classes and follow toward the auditorium, when a roar penetrated the sky, and as the monstrous being was now in sight running toward them. A wave of panic ascended upon them. It was complete pandemonium.

Gun fire broke out as Army vehicles pass by the school crossing the football field. Tanks followed behind firing off their guns. Six Jet fighters fly past overhead launching their missiles locked on the creature and they detonate on impact. The ground shook and the shock wave knocked students and staff over; windows exploded and car alarms rang in the air and while some scrambled to their feet and run for cover to the auditorium, others slowly rose and looked on. Everyone stood in silence for a moment as the warning sirens sounded in the distance. Choppers circle above as the clouds of dust covered the area.  -

“Please tell me you got that?” Lance Hedburg said as he stared on in disbelief.

“I got it.” The cameraman replies.

“My God…” Lance swallowed.

- As the cloud of rubble slowly thinned, the creature growled as it rose from the ruins of the football field, unscathed by their efforts to stop to it. General Biggs stood in bewilderment, “What the hell is that thing? God help us all.” He murmured as he chewed on his cigar.

The creature let out a loud penetrating roar. -
