After Dark - Chapter TwelveA Chapter by lawrence bearWe saw nothing...
Previous Version This is a previous version of After Dark - Chapter Twelve. The guy’s climb down from out of the tree, Paul looks on the beast. “Is it dead?” Rudy calls out. “That bloody thing nearly got to us… Good thing Rudy startled it by screaming like a little girl.” Greg grins. Paul lets out a burly laugh as he slaps Rudy on the back “I’m just glad to be alive smart-a*s.” Rudy responds. “Hey, what the bloody hell is that anyway?” Greg looks on the beast lying there. Paul walks toward it and pokes at it with his gun to roll it over, and when he does… what he sees is beyond belief. Horrified from what looks like a human hand on the limb of the beast. Could it be the moonlight playing tricks on him? He thought so and then it dissolves right before their eyes before his friends can see what he had seen, leaving an awful stench. “Mary mother of…” He chokes on the fumes and covers his mouth with his hand then doubles up in pain. “Hey Paul, you okay? Did it get you?” Rudy has his hand on his back. Paul grimaces, “No, it didn’t, it’s just that smell…” He groans in pain. “What was it?” Greg asks. “I don’t know, but I don’t feel so good right now,” the pain strikes his abdomen again. He moans, “Let’s just get home, we never saw what happened here, you got that!” his arms folded over his stomach. Greg's eyes glanced at the where the beast laid, and then back at Paul, “I got ya! Never saw a thing.” He elbows Rudy. “Huh, what? Yeah… what he said.” “It’s settled then, let’s go home.” Paul moaned. © 2010 lawrence bearReviews
