After Dark - Chapter Thirty

A Chapter by lawrence bear

The sun scorched and burned his back as he knelt scouring the ground for any given trace of Rudy. An eagle screamed as it flew past, and a woodpecker was knocking somewhere among the trees and a Chickadee called its name. The ground he studied, he reached out and felt one broken twig. (Trackers look for things that are out of place, they know the area well and anything like this is noticeable to them.)

His eyes examined for more as he looked beyond the valley. He let go of the reins and slowly walked and searched gathering more information. After some time probing the ground, Gregory then picked up a trail, he whistled for his horse, she came trotting and he then flung one leg over and kicked his heels as he headed out towards the hills.
