House of Cards

House of Cards

A Poem by Lola
"

I wonder if you ever think of me the way I do, of you. You have kept me up like a house of cards, afraid of the blow.

"

And I wonder,

If you ever look at me,

The way i look at you.

If consecutive thoughts

Of me

Wander through your mind sounding you to sleep.

If you feel strong when we're together,

the kind of strength you give me.

You are the reason I am intact.

Put together like a house of cards arranged in opposites.

Careful,

I am a fragile structure.

Trying to hold me up in fear,

One blow to my crash.

Disintegrating into kings and queens that once reigned me.

But I know,

You are there.

Somewhere.

Catching every fallen petal,

and cursing every sky for not feeding it.

Upright, I stand.

My cards glued together,

Immortal to fall.

And I wonder,

If anyone has ever kept you,

Together.
