Drawers

Drawers

A Poem by Yuan Tao
"

What do the drawers hold?

"

A life held in drawers,

Drawers held close to the heart.

One,

glides open on gleaming wheels,

lays the mask, the hair, the skin that heals.

Two,

pulls open on newer slides,

holds the voice, the hand, the smile that lies.

Three,

brought open on rusted rounds,

hides the whispers, the fist, the furrowed frowns.

Four,

tugs open on trusted metal,

clutches the secrets, the hate, the heart of nettle.

Five,

sealed shut with a closed off lock,

buries the cries, the dark, the soul of rock.

LOVE this. Short, to the point, and powerfully packed. I like the open and shut feel. Fits with the theme.
