Irony

Irony

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

Just ranting about..

"
There comes a time in life
When you want to laugh
But the only thing that comes
Are tears
Flowing endlessly
And the irony is
That you don't even know
The reason behind them
It's not as if you are unhappy
Nay.. You have everything
Within reach
Everything that you wished for
At an arm's length
And then you realize
What's missing..
It's peace,
Calm and comfort.
And then you find yourself
Groping blindly
Fearing that you would fall
Walking alone

I believe we learn real wisdom. When we learn. Can't make everyone happy and we must find something to do. We enjoy. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Walking alone isn't a nice thought for most of us but maybe we need to find calm and comfort in our own company first. Thought provoking poem. Nice job :)

I came across this quote recently. I will share it with you because your poem has made me think of it.

Yes, this seems to be the quest of all quests. :)
You're welcome YumnaKay.
I love the sincerity and intensity of these thoughts, wrapped in the short lines and simply saying how it feels...

I think therefore sometimes I think too much...

It's hard to find the balance between wanting life to be effervescent and needing 'me time'. It can be that people think we are always one way - always the party-head and so they pester you to be 'fun on call' and we fear letting them down but we must call 'Time out' to regather our 'Self'.
I was going to say 'irony' is what watercress tastes of - but I won't because that would be really childish.

Keep writing it out YumnaKay. :))

It's hard for me to read this poem & not end up with the idea that the conclusion suggests a need for some higher power such as God or whatever any person chooses. I love the way you write this in a conversational way, as it feels like it's very honest & heartfelt. I so agree that having "all that" (material things or whatever) still leaves us feeling empty & broken. It can take years to find the inner peace that will fill the void inside. This is an excellent description of how it feels when nothing feels fulfilling.

For all that others see what we have, we alone know what we have not. When life is good, we realise that sometimes, the only thing missing is someone to share it with, and to keep us steady and be there to catch us when we fall. Beautifully captured words, that more than you know will feel from within.

Welcome :)
I've experienced such feelings before, and in my opinion, it's the worst type of sadness. I prefer it when I can identify the source of my feelings, so when I don't know, I feel lost and confused. I love how you desccribe that feeling in this poem. Sometimes, the things we need most like "peace, calm, and comfort" (to quote your poem) are the things we never learn to grasp. It seems that we (as humans) always struggle to fill some void in our lives, always pointing to imperfections when everything's mostly right. I read somewhere that if you're breathing, 99% of what you're doing is right. Too bad most of us can only focus on that 1 percent . . .

Anyways, enough of my ramble. Thanks for sharing this thought provoking write. I enjoyed.

peace and contentment is so hard to find. we are either grasping for more than we have, or we are regretting we didn't give enough to others and use our lives to their fullest purpose...
