Symbol

Symbol

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay

She was -

a symbol ~ of courage,
a symbol ~ of wisdom,
a symbol ~ of strength,
a symbol ~ of calm,
a symbol ~ of hope,

that emanated
through her very essence --
felt by those around her.

But only she knew ...

what it takes,
to put on ~ a brave face
and mask
her intense thoughts
within.

a mask ~ of courage,
a mask ~ of wisdom,
a mask ~ of strength,
a mask ~ of calm,
a mask ~ of hope,

to cover the signs
of her scarred soul
~ and mind.

Oh YumnaKay, this is a very heart wretching piece that I can so closely relate to.

I enjoyed reading this piece as a whole but my favorite lines were the repetition of the "Symbols & the Masks" ~ a very nice piece, in wording & presentation YumnaKay.

Wishing you a good day. 🌹

Blessings,
~ hsg

I like this very much, and better another poem i just read of yours in which you copied another poet's style. This is much more creative ...and altogether a better poem i thought. Develop your own style of writing, it is very good already..

Erica, thank you! I'm glad you liked it and that the words touched you. 😊
I could feel the soul of your words as a powerful dedication, lifting her, showing her strength to stand strong even when torn apart within. And in another way it spoke from her soul into all of ours, how we can choose what we desire the world to see in us, through us. So powerfully voiced.

Question: did you mean at the end "scarred" or "scared"? Either way, I completely relate to this on a really deep level. I really try to put on a brave face and be a source of calm and hope for the people around me, and I think I succeed. But there is fear in me, like there is in everyone, and there are certainly scars as well, which I think prove my strength. They just show that I'm hard to kill LOL. Good writing Yumyum

Yes indeed! Thank you for appreciating 😇
Who is there to care for the carers?
This reminded me of Robin Williams and how he played the unrthodox U.S. physician 'Patch' Adams who used humour as part of a holistic approach to treating ill people - the phrase 'physician heal thyself' also came to mind. Some people think that carers have an infinite wellspring of energy and are surprised when they exhibit signs of burn out.
Well penned YumnaKay. Well penned.

Hahah I know you a little 😉
I must say it is a beautifully crafted bringing out truth behind that mask of courage that we sometimes have to carry.
Many a time we are to put on that mask so that no one dare shatter us.
Thanks for sharing.
