I like looking up at the moon, thinking it smiles back.
Sometimes, I think it does; whereas, other times, it's as if it disappears from the face of a darkening sky, and those are the nights I frantically keep searching for it to appear, for it to watch over me, because, somehow, I've made myself believe it copies me … that it knows and understands whatever mood I'm in.
Also, I like looking up at the clouds forming shapes, engulfing stars, and occasionally the moon, which makes the sky take on the appearance of how my life feels right now: empty, foreboding, overwhelming darkness everywhere, while I seek a way out to embrace breath-gifting, ached for light.
Yet, it seems as though the darkness has penetrated my very mind, causing me to look at the bleak view from a dimly lit window of my soul, where something resides... sleeping, waiting to be awakened....!

You are the first person in my life that expresses this feeling that my moods are mirrored in the phases of the moon! It's like, with a brand new crescent, life seems to have new promise & with a waning crescent, life feels as if it's slipping thru our fingers. I love hearing the details of how this feels from your perspective & your expressions are artful & relatable (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

You feel as the moon mimics you... searching in this need for wholeness. I feel like I am the moon...alone in the darkness searching for the sun. powerful feelings, adorning perceptions. Thank you for sharing these thoughts to expand my own.

What a beautiful piece. Pardon me for my binge reading and reviewing, as I am apt to do when I find what I like. The moon speaks to many of us, I think. Perhaps wolves and women are naturally in tune with it.

I've always felt at one with the moon. Did you know that as "Cancerians", astrologers refer to us as moonmaidens?

It was wonderful to read!

I love the tie to the moon. I can relate and it is so true how we throw our emotions at it and expect it to react and mirror.

I like the way you draw us into the person's relationship with the moon, and its relationship with obscuring clouds, and how all of this mirrors what the person in the story sees as the state of their life. I think it's well done with some evocative phrases, and I certainly buy into the breath-gifting light. Nice job!
