Star of My Life

Star of My Life

Star of My Life

I remember the times we sat up late,
counting the stars scattered over the nightly sky;
and every time you raised your finger asking:
"Mamma, which is the brightest? Isn't it this one?"
You would point; and I, oblivious of the stars,
for my star lives beside me; within me, making me complete,
would point laughingly at you, my son;
touching your nose lightly, I'd say:
"It's right here, for real stars are not found on the sky,
but in the hearts of their ol' mum..."
Shining brighter than ever, you dim everything else,
as I fill my eyes with your light...
I remember,
I remember everything;
as I fade away but see you grow...
you; the star of my life.

I really like the depth of love and affection, which is real only can be felt, cant express as words are less than a feeling that can be only be felt. But you have tried well to explain clearly with imagery.

What a beautifully tender glimpse, full of love and the enchantment of life. This starlit setting comes to life, and one feels the wondrous blending of darkness and light. How it makes the soul smile. :)

As a mother of three I find it touching. I feel the light in my children's eyes as they grow and learn, and it moves me, as they are forever part of me. Very pretty

Mothers do good. Always there to boost you up when things don't go your way. More importantly, always there to tell you, she's not the one. lol

True... Thank you for adding your thoughts here. I appreciate it 😊
Yumnakay,
The love and its continuity when it apples to mother and son/daughter is a delicate subject matter and I often feel and find that only writers with fair sex excel it. However I am of a different opinion regarding the SEX in writers and I even disagree with those who tries to demarcate it.
But if the inner screens unfolds like above I sometimes forget my stands.

excellent attempt indeed

We find ourselves when we find peace in the next generation.....your words have expressed so well the heart of the parent and how our whole existence is wrapped around our children.

Great poetry.
