Mr. Jones

God said the meek shall inherit the earth

so I give the weak all my merit and worth

and I only speak his word

I am the shepherd I protect my herd

the People’s Church is your home

and I alone cast the last stones

I alone heal brittle bones

I alone speak in passionate tones

I love you more than my own health

I love more than all the world’s wealth

and I love you more than myself

but you must come away with me

if you stay you’ll soon see

America hates thee

they’ll come for us in the middle of the night

it’ll be too late to know if I’m right

too late to fight

this is our true plight

I can hold you up but they’ll crush you down

in this hell you’ll drown

their king wears a serpent in his crown

your salvation lies with me in Jonestown

God’s love will become very clear

I’ll hold you my dear

you have nothing left to fear

you can believe in me...

        I am here

Its sad, but life goes on.

It's dark. As dark as looking into the mouth of a deep well, and though the words sounds reassuring ... there lies the irony underneath. They seem to come almost from the mouth of Jim Jones himself. That last line sure sounds frightening.
