Typhoon

Typhoon

A Poem by zainul
"

Please rush to help the survivors of Typhoon "Haiyan" that hit the Philippines

"
Homes were ruined by the howling typhoon
Dead bodies are scattered everywhere
Survivors need food and help very soon

People were busy with work till late noon
They could not imagine of any disaster
Homes were ruined by the howling typhoon

The fury of the storm swallowed sun and moon
Thousands of lives instantly died there
Survivors need food and help very soon

Peace and happiness prevailed in full tune
Sudden wrath of nature snatched divine care
Homes were ruined by the howling typhoon

You can hear only scream, lament and groan
Please rush to them with anything to share
Survivors need food and help very soon

Humans can't be selfish and hide in their cocoon
They need to show humanity to their peer
Homes were ruined by the howling typhoon
Survivors need food and help very soon

When I read your poems about life, about the things that are happening to us, I feel ashamed for I haven't written anything lately to contribute to this cause.. I am a firm believer that every poet should be involved with humanity, to write about the events that define us as a whole, let it be tragedy or a blissful moment...I guess I just caught up in my on sorrow...
Have I ever told you that your poems remind me of a very old style? Ghazal is the style that would be..~smiles~

Very honest and shows the pain of individuals caught up in an unforgiving situation. You are right about all of us being in a cocoon. We must look beyond ourselves and at the lives of others or we can't call ourselves human beings. Please excuse my photo, this isnt actually one of me..incase you find it disrespectful. No harm intended by it.

Thanks for the assurance,dear friend.:)
I love this piece - It is brilliant - from a poetic standpoint, it is written with great form, great word usage, and great imagery. From an emotional standpoint, if you will, it is written with a whole lot of strength and power. It gets to the gut of the reader. I live in the US, but have been tangentially affected by the incidents. You bring it even more to life/

You are very kind to write the words of compliments.
I am responsible to my conscience.
I thought this was very touching. I especially liked the line, "Humans can't be selfish and hide in their cocoon." I can't even to imagine living through something so horrible. I was happy to see that you are bringing people's attention to this.

Thank you dear friend for stopping by and sharing your admiring feelings.
In behalf of all the Filipinos, I thank you for feeling our grief and our burden when Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda devastated our land. You've written it well and you've felt it. It is more than sympathy to make a poem like this that appeals for help and at the same time describe the tragedy that we have here in the country. This is one great poem. and thank you very much.
