Walk

Walk

A Poem by zainul
"

My experience of walking with my daughter

"
I will go for a walk today
My daughter will come with me
She has taken my charge from last May
Since doctor advised not to let me free

Last time we walked after dusk
Along the meandering path of an old lake
As I was attentive to my task
Suddenly I stumbled on something like snake

My daughter was not ready to see me fall
She cried and ran to pull me up
She tried hard but failed as she was quite small
Compared to my obese body and heavy stuff

People are not always helpless
A healthy youth came for my rescue
He gently pulled me and set me on a cosy place
He was quite expert like a fire crew

I thanked the youth from the core of my heart
He politely thanked back and left us there
I stared at the youth like a piece of art
And felt that there are many nice hearts to take care

Then we rested in the park and enjoyed the nature
Light reflected on the still water of the lake
Pleasant breeze played with us and  unknown creature
I also felt sighs of some fairies around my neck

My daughter insisted to start for home
But my heart stuck to the mysterious spot
I felt very happy under the natural dome
I wished to write poem with streaming thought

However,we left the park and returned to our den
I enjoyed sound sleep with happy dream
Today we will go out to walk again
To a lovely farm with winding stream

A lovely poem. I have just been for a walk myself. 8 miles in the English country side. My walk was more of a prosaic plod than your poetic walk. There are several lines and observations in your poem that I love. Above all it has great humanity and a joy of life and others and nature in it. Long may you walk in poetry!

There’s something humbling about having to rely on others and thankfully there are others who are honestly pleased to help. I enjoyed the way you conveyed this in this sweet poem.
Kind regards Katrina

Thank you Aishwarya for the inspiring review.
There is something humbling about having to rely on others to do things we once did with complete independence. Yet, you turned that frustration into a beautiful memory...a unity of spirit and heart. Beautiful.

Your poem is really touching as it captures the emotions of the man with the little bit of love and joy he has left with his daughter. I love that he walks with his daughter and still finds joy in the little things in life. Great work!

your words made me think of my relationship with my father before he died, and walking with him when he wasn't the pinnacle of perfect health. Something, I am so grateful for having done, yet still I miss him so. Really enjoyed this, the fairies round your neck, lovely touch!

Snapshot of life... it says in the good book "There will come a day when they will lead you by the hand a road you would rather not walk"... hard to deal with when it happens...

Thank you for stopping by and leave such a lovely observation.
Daughters are the most special of Gods creations and yes, there are young boys and men who have good hearts and these are the young men one hopes their daughter will be atrracted to in the future. The pictures you paint of the country side intertwined with threads and strong stitches of the goodness in people reminds me that there is hope.....
