Silverfish

Silverfish

A Poem by zainul
"

Story of strange fish

"

This is a strange looking fish

It lives in places without water

You will never like it on your dish

I bet it is stranger than Harry Potter

You will get it in your lovely book

It may emerge from bags and clothing

You will find it in dark and humid nook

It may ruin your precious thing

This strange creature secretly ate

Sixty kilos of delicious peanut

It never appeared to express regret

For plundering poor farmer’s hut

This creature has silvery body with six legs

It moves in a wiggling motion like a fish

Though an insect it is always wingless

It has the magical power to vanish

If you want to get rid of the filthy bug

Find the places where it lives in your home

Consult an expert who knows how to debug

But never panic as it has no venom

Hello zainu. I have heard about these tiny silver fish that don't live in water. It sounds as though they are a nuisance more than a threat. However it appears they have a voracious appetite. Sixty kilos of peanuts is quite a consignment :)I enjoyed the read. Thanks for posting.

Thank you dear for the lovely review.
this is a strange creature, but it almost has feelings, like humans; its can be a pest, but so can humans, it has magical power, which we thin of as the cosmic world; it may be a nuisance but it won't harm you.
Very interesting; can be related to us mortals....

Thank you Zainful, very clever poem!
yes it is a strange fish, i wonder who gave the insect that name.
i liked your 'fishy' story, if someone in your family is also an illustrator, you could make into a children's book with cute pictures for your kids or grand-kids.

I love the visual cues you give here. I could actually see the Silverfish, and I could understand the damage they cause. Wonderfully descriptive in a minimalist sort of way. Good job. Keep writing.

Nice write man . . . Though one can obviously take it in the literal sense, It is easy to see passed that literal sense.
You almost wrote it in a style of a very short story - even sounded a bit like a children's book - loved it!
Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you for stopping by.
Seems like a metaphor for how that which enlightens [lovely books] and that which nourishes [food] can get destroyed in subtle unseen ways - though not cause for fear, it needs an expertise [discernment] to detect.

Just some thoughts on a textured poem, beautifully written.
