PUT THAT

RAZOR BLADE

DOWN

I remember back then Just like you

I couldn’t trust anyone

just my secret friend

I never cared to vent

If it was for the best or the worst

If it was an enemy; that could’ve killed me

The blood, the rush, the pain

It made me feel alive again

demons kept haunting me

When I saw those scars; all my secret wars

I wish I could put this razor down

And escape this evil town.

No tears, silent whispers

I felt nothing

It kept hurting me

It kept burning me

It kept feeding me negativity

And I knew this for certain

That I was not the only person

The only one, who felt that way

Like something hid itself behind the curtain

Watching me every moment

Just to find a reason; so it could bring me down

I wanted to put this razor down

And run away from this evil town.

And when you found that out

You promised you would save me

Then blamed me for mistakes I never made

Your words are sharper than a razor blade

They hurt more than I could take

Till I couldn’t break anymore

the curse of negativity

Please help me break free

So find me; I need this hope

So find me, help me cope

When I will tell you to leave

What I mean is that I need you

Help me, put this razor down

And escape this evil town.

Every judgmental remark

Just builds another wall

Between us, and it’s the cause of the fall

You keep saving me; you keep breaking me

Don’t say that I never warned you

You don’t know my intent, you have no clue

You can’t see me through

Just save me from my own enemy

This is my life

And I want you to let me be me

So I can put this razor down

And escape this evil town.

Your smile is my only friend

Your disappointment is my enemy

If you will try to understand me

I don’t need an enemy; I am my own worst enemy

Show me how to put an end

To all those temporary problems

Help your soul heal and heart to mend

I have been there

And I am sharing this, because I care

I will show you the way

No need to say a word

If you just put this blade down

I’ll help you leave behind this evil town.

If you lose a fight; don’t hide

Tell me so I can be your light

If you can’t speak those words

I will help you through

Don’t give in

 even if he whispers, ‘suicide’

It’s a lie, don’t keep it inside

Starting from today

Find another healthy way

It’s you feel

Cause’ I know, this is for real

If you feel ignored, I’ll be your diary

Embrace your fears, only ‘You’ can save ‘you’

put this blade down

let's leave this evil town.

Raising awareness about self-harm will encourage those who are suffering alone, to talk and to be more open about their own self-harm, and reach out for support.
This is for all those who are going through all this.

Very realistic when the piece addresses those who want to "help" then judge...especially when it is 'judgment" of others that led to the need...

It reads like personal experience, as one who understands the internal struggle of self-harm. Myself? I can face down many human "beasts" (and have!) and can be realistic when confronting emotional "beasts", but physical pain? I'm the biggest chicken-s**t this side of the Mason Dixon Line! Your piece helps me to put myself in the place of someone who would need physical pain to overcome/outshout emotional pain.

Love this poem. It gives the perspective of the person who's hurting inside. It's an inside battle but with someone to help the pain stop will give great relief to the hurting. But there's always misunderstandings from people who don't understand. I like that you're bring more awareness to this. Great poem :)

You're very welcome :)
I liked the voice changes and colors. This is powerful and something I can relate to. People don't tend to get it because we don't tend to explain it well enough.

Glad it's not bottled up. We are never alone!

Thanks for sharing!
