My Friendly Valentine

Thoughts for others

I would love it,
if I could catch and save
a beautiful day of Spring
Save it just for you,
Let you have it , on a day
when your feeling kind of blue

If I could build an Island,
I would give it straight to you
A place to find serenity,
A place to be alone

If you gave me
all your problems
I would throw them all away,
Giving you a needed break
A little time.to play

In reality, all these things
Cannot be done by me

I cannot build an Island,
Or catch you a Spring day
But let me do what I do best,
Promise just for you
To be a friend who will always be there
Will always love you, always care

Especially loved the second verse "If I could build an Island..." So often love is mistaken for an obligation to constantly make a fuss when space and time to breathe and recollect oneself are worth so much more than a million roses.
