Back Talk

Back Talk

A Poem by D. Jones

just for that
ill cause you grief
making up lies
before you even speak
this instant
will stay with me forever
shot back down
with whiskey for a chaser

at this time
im waiting for a plan
to wash away this evidence
and heal my scarred up hand
if it wasn't for
this house full of strangers
i'd pack up my things
and find some new danger

forego the semantics
and stick to the back talk
this life was meant for a slow walk
breathe easy you messenger of hate
attacks on my conscience
happen frequently of late
