The Thames

The Thames

A Poem by zoophagous
"

Not about war or death. I was just sitting by The Thames a while ago and there was a military helicopter flying over, and it looked beautiful.

"

We were flying out

over the fractured Thames

by which men and women bathed

in the glorious early-evening

sunlight that mingled with their

chilled Rosé wine

on the sunken wharves

Through the gently stirred cool air

the shattered light masked the faces

from our view

and all we could see

was brilliant golden light

creating a barrier

between us

and all that lay below

And we turned towards the burning sun

and flew straight onwards

to leave the shadows

to fall behind us

It was a quickie and I've never really liked it.

You're not supposed to like quickies, their lack of substances soils you.
