About Me

Well, my name is Mike and I'm 23. I graduated college a few months ago and right now I'm struggling to get into a MFA program. I like writing a bunch of things but right now I want to work on my graphic novel. I love workshop and I love real constructive critiques and honesty. So if you hate something I write, tell me and maybe I can make it better. And I love read requests and I always try to return the reviews I get.

Some books I've read recently and loved:

Soon I will Become Invincible by Austin Grossman ( Reaaal good super hero novel )
No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July ( good book of short stories, check out her movie "Me You And Everyone we know" as well, excellent flick )
Self Help by Lorrie Moore ( the book that got me reading again, no kidding )

I also love comic books more than like anything in the world and some of my favorites are:

Powers by Brian Michael Bendis ( awesome realistic take on super heroes )
Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan ( Vaughan just rocks. )
100 Bullets by Brian Azzarello ( I think that's how you spell his last name. Just a good gritty crime book. )
Short Comings ( depressing, and engrossing--about one Chinese American's struggle with race and dating )
Runaways by Brian K. Vaughan ( maybe the best thing by Vaughan, about teenage super heroes that run away from their evil parents )
Spider-Man by Everyone (Because I love him and he taught me how to read in 3rd grade. Now look at me! )

I'm glad you liked the newer ones I posted. Those are years old - mostly 2006 - but there are still a few of my older works that I enjoy a lot.

You're welcome for that review. I enjoy your work very much and look forward to you posting more.

And don't worry about not being around; people have lives, unlike me. Haha. ;]

Thank you for the review. :] I really love positive reviews like that. They make me feel fuzzy inside. That one is special to me because I haven't written a love poem in a long time.

Oh its okay, I figured you were busy.

I know what song you're talking about now. I looked up the lyrics and it came back to me. For a second I was like, "What's he talking about?" haha. Anyway, I have to disagree that its similar to "Love Song" because besides those two words, its nothing alike. I'm saying in Unlock that it wouldn't do any good, and in Love Song she's saying that's exactly what the person needs. If you understand what I'm trying to say.

Hey there. I'm doing okay. Surviving and all. How are you doing?

What song were you talking about in the review for "Unlock"? Because I wasn't inspired by any songs for that one.

No problem, we've all got our lives to live. Thanks for your recent reviews and for taking the time to read.

That's really disappointing to hear. I wrote a new poem about my dad and my brother's relationship, called Transformation. It helped a lot, as writing always does. I guess I'm fortunate enough to even have contact with my father, while my brother doesn't. I just don't know how long that's going to last.

Really? I can't see how you'd dislike it in any way, it's incredible. But I guess we're are own worst critics in the worst of ways.

Thanks for the review of Shotgun. :] It's actually one of my least favorite of my poems, but I appreciate the review a lot. I got all nervous when I saw you'd reviewed that one actually, haha. I thought you'd say it was horrible.
