I've been writing for fun for years. I just recently decided to start saving some of the stuff I do and actually "work" on developing the stories that are more entertaining to me and refining those rather than doing something then deleting it or just outright abandoning it. I'm working on a couple of manuscripts for novels but my daughter asked me one night why I haven't written something for her so I gave it a shot. Turns out that children's stories are kind of cool because they can be short and are pretty easy to finish in one or two sittings. I've also found it fun to put "easter eggs" into the stories for the parents or adults who are reading them.
