Shadow of Lovecraft - Seraphic Confrontation

Details

Weird fiction is a subgenre of speculative literature originating from the 19th and 20th century which focuses on exactly what it says: the weirdest things imaginable. This genre is based around the complete eschewment or drastical reinterpretation of traditional fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, to create a mood that truly feels otherworldly. Famous authors in this circle include Howard Phillips Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, Lord Dunsany, and a few others operating within the Gothic horror genre, such as Mary Shelley and Bram Stoker. Lovecraft was the most prominent author in this genre, and this competition aims to further uphold the literary tradition he created into the contemporary world.

If you are interested in this type of literature, submit your work of weird fiction here to the third rendition of the Shadow of Lovecraft contest and review what other people have put forth. Stories, poetry, and scripts are all acceptable formats. We as a community will vote on what the best piece is by the beginning of March. Although the works here are expected to be based in horror, your submission does not have to be, so long as it is most definitely weird.

Plans have been designed for me and the rest of the Weird Fiction Circle to host a Shadow of Lovecraft contest every month. Stay tuned for future renditions of this competition. We may eventually design them with themes, but for now we are keeping it general. If this sort of thing interests you, please join the recently created Weird Fiction Circle on Writers' Cafe.
