New title:   Barstool

Haiku Barstool

A vicious circle

Rounds the barroom floor each night

Drinks, drinks and more drinks

Family life is ruined

On the barstool every night

And resentment builds

At home all suffer

Wife and children feel the pain

No quality time

Soon barstool is home

Full glass is his only friend

Family put second

He cries in his beer

Oh where did my family go

I missed them growing

Next word Depressed

FAMILY LIFE IS RUINED

stags felled by hunters
does and fawns scurry in fear
for deep-woods safety

new title: pageant

Pageant

Walks with graceful style

Competing for the queens crown

Her smile lights the night

Angelic voice

Sings out her favorite song

Her talent glows bright

Finalist chosen

And she is one of the five

Her hands are shaking

Question is given

She answers it with such ease

Audience applauds

The moment of truth

Pageant Judge reads the winner

And calls out her name

Next Title: Queen

new title: Katydid

Katydid

See my Katydid

You say she’s a grasshopper

Not my little girl

She has hair of gold

Katydid has big green eyes

Twinkles when she laughs

While playing one day

She caught a green grasshopper

Put it in a jar

Held it up with pride

It’s a katydid; I said

No mama, I am

It’s a katydid

Katydid is your name child

Matches your green eyes

She opened the jar

Grasshopper hopped to freedom

Katydids unite

Green eyes felt a tear

Found a love for the green bug

That had the same name

Nancy, I'm going to stick to one-stanza haiku for awhile.  ATMP is thinking of giving me a contract for my flash book, but I need to add a few stories, which means, I have to write a few stories.  I am also busy getting my chapbook ready.

What is the next haiku title?

Haiku Aggie Marble

My Aggie marble

She is as blue as the sky

In my hand she's Queen

Haiku Marble

Marble ballroom floor

Catches light from ceiling globe

Gleams like mirrored glass
