The beginning - continue from here...

It was a beautiful night. The stars were twinkling like lumps of glitter stacked in hundreds. It was the most beautiful full moon night ever. And like every night, Isabelle was sitting near the river, admiring its beauty. The dark misty sky, with the moon leaning down to the river and its light only faintly visible because of the fog. The river sparkling, and the dark wood with the trees in the darkest shade of green imaginable, and the wild flowers and blooming grass in red and yellow with violets and wild daisies peeping from here and there. What a sight! Suddenly, through the white fog, an angel appeared. She wore a long white flowing dress and her hair, her pretty golden hair, was half the length of her dress. Tiny lemon yellow coloured butterflies twirled around her. She came with a candle in her hand. “I hand over this task to you."

Isabelle looked up at the angel in shock and surprise. "Do not be afraid," the angel said, smiling down at Isabelle. "I hand over this task to you," she said again, holding the candle out towards the girl. Isabelle stood up shakily, trying to find the nerve to speak. "W-what task?" She stammered. The angel gave no reply, but beckoned Isabelle to come closer. "Take this," the angel urged her. Isabelle hesitated, unsure of what to think. But she took one look into the angel's kind, beautiful eyes and was suddenly filled with an overwhelming sense of peace. Finally, Isabelle reached out and grabbed the candle. The moment she held the candle in her own hands, however, it disappeared and she was enveloped by a beautiful, golden light. As the light slowly dissipated, Isabelle looked over at the angel in amazement. The angel just smiled warmly at her once more, and vanished back into the night.

Isabelle stood for a moment, marveling in the light. Then she felt power, as well as peace, sweep over her. She realized she was destined for some great task. The angel had brought it to her and left her with the means to carry it out. Suddenly a chord of music sounded. Isabelle looked around but saw only trees. the chord sounded a second time, and a  third--and then a melody began to play. Isabelle could sense it moving away from her, and, knowing nothing else to do, she began to follow.

The music grew lighter and faster, and Isabelle began to dance in a circle of light. She went deeper and deeper into the forest. Trees made an archway overhead. the grassy path was smooth under her feet. There were no fallen branches, no exposed tree roots. Isabelle realized, as she danced on her way, that she was going exactly where she was meant to go. Finally she came to a structure as small as a doll's house. She wanted to go in, but knew she was too big. Suddenly that was no longer true, as the door loomed before her. "I feel like Alice in Wonderland," she giggled. There was no bell and no knocker, and as the music suddenly stopped, Isabelle realized she was supposed to go right in.

The doll's house was right in front of her. The problem was getting in. Isabelle really didn't have a clue of what she was supposed to do. She went to the backside of the house. Still no way to get in. After a few minutes of trying to find a way of getting in, Isabelle sat down on a nearby boulder and sighed. She looked around, the scenery was amazing. The doll house was on a slightly raised platform, right in the middle of the wood, with trees all around. She was charmed by so much beauty. She began singing the song her late mother had taught her when she was five.
"There will come a day... When all will be well.. Light will shine upon... this place where we dwell.."
Just then, she heard a twig snap. She looked back at the house and then, what she saw, she couldn't believe.

Waking suddenly as she has so many times as the years went by, she wonders why she still dreams of her innocent thoughts of her youth. Did she really feel butterflies in anticipation of her great task she was given? Would she have danced with happiness had she known how hard this task would be to endure for so many years.  The floor is cold under her feet as she walks to her window to search the sky. She smiles as she thinks back to the troublesome times she had to face, refusing to have regrets, knowing every moment of her life has made her stronger then her fantasies of her youth. Sighing, she is content....she is Isabelle.
